The University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC; an NCI Designated Cancer Center) is inviting applications for the position of an Assistant Researcher/Professor in its Population Sciences in the Pacific (PSP) program. The successful candidate will be part of the Cancer Prevention in the Pacific (CPP) component within PSP and contribute to increasing the breadth and depth of research currently being conducted by CPP members. This is a non-tenure track position supported fully by UHCC funds for three (3) years; support through extramural funding is expected beyond the third year. Faculty in CPP focus on cancer prevention and control research within the diverse population in Hawaii and the greater Pacific catchment area, addressing cancer health disparities with a community-engaged approach highlighted by population- and patient-based behavioral research. Current areas of strength include research on tobacco products including combustible cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, and other cancer-causing addictive substances such as betel nut; nutrition-based and physical activity studies to address obesity and cancer risk; cancer screening research and outreach to communities of Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders; and working with cancer patients in the promotion of well-being through cancer survivorship and cancer care delivery research. Applications are invited for a full-time Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of cancer epidemiology in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health (DEPH) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a leading research institution with a strong commitment to excellence in research. The DEPH is well recognized for its multi-disciplinary programs in epidemiologic and prevention research and is currently undergoing considerable expansion of its faculty base. 

The epidemiologist who occupies this position will be expected to develop an independent program of research in cancer epidemiology, focusing on one or more of the following areas: molecular epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, obesity epidemiology; to participate in the activities of Cancer Epidemiology, Prevention and Control program of the Albert Einstein Cancer Center; and to teach medical and graduate students. The position, which comes with a generous start-up package including 3 years of full salary support plus research funds, will provide opportunities for diverse research experiences in a highly collegial environment with potential for growth. 

The successful candidate will have either a PhD in epidemiology or an MD with advanced training in epidemiology, strong verbal and written communication skills, relevant research and teaching experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Annual salary $125,000 – $135,000.

About the Position:

The Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control housed at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking applicants for a full-time mobile Health (mHealth) Research Scientist position for a National Cancer Institute-funded project. The candidate will work with senior faculty members, a project coordinator, Clinical Research Associates, and other researchers to improve health outcomes for aging childhood cancer survivors. The scientist will collaborate with an experienced health informatics/IT team to develop, deploy, and maintain mHealth platforms for collecting patient-reported outcomes and digital health markers for research. Minimum Education

The Opportunity
The Associate Director of Translational Research will work with basic, translational and clinical investigator teams to translate scientific discoveries from the laboratory to the clinic and community, with a focus on the broad thematic priority areas of the UCCCC – novel therapeutics, tumor immunology, immuno-engineering, cellular therapy, cancer metabolism, epigenetics, epitranscriptomics, target discovery, prevention, survivorship, and population science. The Ideal Candidate
This AD will have a penchant for creative thinking and programmatic growth, with an open leadership style and will have previous experience guiding teams in a complex, multi-disciplinary academic environment. This executive leader will have experience in translational cancer research, a track record of scholarly activity and NCI or cancer-relevant funding. Experience leading a lab and as a key participant in collaborative grants, is valued. MD or PhD or equivalent degree required.
