Job Information/Description:
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) is seeking applicants for multiple open-rank, tenure-track faculty positions to help advance cancer prevention and population sciences research in the HCC Cancer Control (CC) program. The aims of the CC program are to 1) identify biological, behavioral, and health systems-related risk factors for cancer occurrence and its consequences, 2) develop, evaluate, and translate interventions that modify risk behaviors, reduce mortality, improve quality of life, and enhance survivorship, and 3) examine individual, community, and system-level barriers and facilitators that influence the delivery, uptake, and adherence of cancer prevention and control interventions. The HCC/CC program serves a diverse catchment area representing the entire state of South Carolina. The CC program has thematic emphases on tobacco control, cancer health disparities, early cancer detection, and survivorship research. Substantial growth in recent years has led to added strengths in health services and health outcomes research, cancer epidemiology, clinical decision science and data science. The reach of the program has increased through MUSC’s Regional Health Network, which provides opportunities to extend research by leveraging a network of both inpatient and outpatient healthcare facilities serving primarily rural populations across the state.
Areas of interest that align with the strategic growth of the HCC and CC program include cancer research related to precision population health, molecular or genetic epidemiology, implementation science, health disparities research, community-based research, early detection and screening, telehealth, health services and policy research, shared decision making, health promotion/health behavior, and symptom management.
Candidates will be considered across all academic ranks, with a priority toward early-stage investigators. Preferred candidates will have current funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) [particularly the National Cancer Institute (NCI)], other federal research funding, or demonstrate a strong ability to obtain and sustain funding. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment towards collaborative, interdisciplinary research, as well as research mentorship.
Current CC membership spans 3 colleges and 14 departments on the MUSC campus. Appropriate academic department assignments will be made in alignment with the candidate’s expertise and training.
Required Qualifications:
• PhD, MD, DO, DrPH, ScD or equivalent degree with training in medicine, epidemiology, public health, informatics and data science, nursing, psychology, anthropology, behavioral science, behavioral economics, health services, health economics, communication, decision sciences, sociology, or other related fields
• Extensive cancer-relevant research experience
• Extensive peer-reviewed publication experience, commensurate with career stage

Job Information/Description:

ChristianaCare is hiring a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute.

The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute (HFGCCRI) at ChristianaCare, located in Newark, Delaware, provides a unique environment to conduct population health science research to address cancer disparities. With more than 245,000 annual patient visits, the HFGCCRI is recognized as a national model for multidisciplinary cancer care and a top enroller in U.S. clinical research trials.

The HFGCCRI is one of a select group of research centers in the country to participate in the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). In addition, through its novel partnership with the Wistar Institute Cancer Center, an NCI-Designated Basic Laboratory Cancer Center, the two institutions have a long-standing partnership of conducting patient-focused, translational cancer research that has impacted cancer care in Delaware.

The HFGCCRI and the Wistar Institute Cancer Center are committed to equity, inclusion, fairness, and justice. The Caspar Wistar Bacchieri Disparities Fellows will play an important role supporting a new programmatic line of research in population health science. Priority will be given to research activities that have the potential to build on past successes in reducing cancer disparities and translate into impactful clinical and policy-based interventions.

To be considered, you must include the following in your application:

-Cover letter
-Curriculum vitae
– A description of previous research with reprints of up to four publications
– A concise statement of research interests and professional goals
– Three letters of recommendation with contact information

Qualifications
-Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate degree in biomedical sciences, medicine, epidemiology, behavioral science, public health, or a related field.
-Experience in research, education, and/or outreach that included underrepresented groups is required.

-Experience with quantitative, qualitative, and research software (e.g., SPSS, R, NVivo, and REDCap) is preferred.

Caspar Wistar Bacchieri Disparities Fellows will be appointed for a two-year term, with full salary and benefits, and the possibility of extending or being considered for promotion. Fellows will be part of the uniquely collegial, collaborative scientific and clinical environment that characterizes the partnership between the HFGCCRI and Wistar Cancer Institute.

Candidates of all races, nationalities, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, and economic background are strongly encouraged to apply. We seek candidates who will actively contribute to our core values of diversity, inclusion, scientific/clinical innovation, and health equity.
