ASPO Launches Its 50th Anniversary Campaign

ASPO is proud to celebrate a major milestone – 50 years of advancing cancer prevention research, training, and collaboration. We are excited to have launched our 50th Anniversary Campaign, a community-driven effort to strengthen the future of our field by supporting those who will lead it next.

Our Goal: $50,000 to Support Early-Career Researchers

In honor of this milestone year, we’ve set a $50,000 fundraising goal.

Funds raised will provide early-career researchers the opportunity to attend the ASPO Annual Meeting, present their work, and connect with leaders across cancer prevention. Reaching our $50,000 goal will provide 5 trainee travel scholarships to the Annual Meeting per year for the next 5 years.

These experiences can be career-defining. Your gift helps ensure that emerging scientists have access to the mentorship, visibility, and community that ASPO uniquely provides.

Every contribution, big or small, truly makes a difference.

Why Your Support Matters: A Donor’s Perspective

Longtime ASPO member, Past ASPO President, and donor Karen Basen-Engquist shared why she believes so strongly in supporting early-career professionals:

“I’ve been proud to be an ASPO member since my earliest days as an assistant professor, and the organization has played a pivotal role in shaping my career. ASPO provides an exceptional learning environment for those at the start of their professional journey, and that’s why I’m committed to ensuring more post-docs and trainees have the chance to attend the meeting, engage with the community, and grow as future leaders in our field.”

Karen’s story reflects what so many in our society know to be true: ASPO’s strength lies in the people we nurture, support, and empower.

Join Us in Shaping the Next 50 Years

As we honor five decades of progress, we’re also looking ahead with optimism and determination. Your donation helps ensure that ASPO continues cultivating the next generation of leaders who will drive innovation and impact in cancer prevention. Thank you for being part of our community and for investing in its future.
