The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) and the Department of Medical Oncology at TJU in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is excited to announce a new faculty position who will serve as the Associate Director (AD) of Population Science in SKCCC and the Chief of the Division of Population Science in the Department of Medical Oncology. The AD will be a senior executive leader who will report to the director of SKCCC and the Chair of the Department. The candidate should be an accomplished funded investigator (PhD, ScD, MD, or MD/PhD) that has demonstrated ability to build multi-disciplinary teams and has an expertise and research focus in one or more of the following:

Cancer risk assessment and screening
Discovering & validating biomarkers of cancer risk, progression and prognosis

The role will focus on enhancing population science research within the SKCCC and the Department; develop strategic initiative with basic, clinical, population and translational researchers throughout the Jefferson Enterprise, and expand community outreach, engagement and education efforts.

The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) is an NCI-designated consortium cancer center that includes researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and Drexel University. The SKCCC has just achieved comprehensive status, and its community outreach and engagement component is ranked as “exceptional”. The SKCC has a successful population science Cancer Risk and Control research program with over $13m in peer-reviewed funding and 34 full members from 15 departments at Jefferson and Drexel. Jefferson has a network of 18 hospitals in the region, providing tremendous opportunities for data science and population health research.

Recruited faculty will be provided generous start-up funds, a competitive salary, and modern facilities, along with administrative and infrastructure services. Successful candidates will get access to cancer registries, and the evolving resources of various types of cancer biorepositories developed within the cancer center. Existing investigators work in biomarkers, disparities, obesity, behavioral studies, survivorship, toxicity reduction and aging. Successful candidates will have opportunities to mentor trainees at all levels from the Jefferson College of Population Health and Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health. In addition to membership in the SKCCC, primary and secondary faulty appointment(s)/affiliation(s) may be one or more departments/divisions of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College and/or the College of Population Health at Jefferson.

The Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) Research Program within University of Rochester Wilmot Cancer Institute (WCI) invites candidates to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position (all ranks considered). The Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences (BSHES), Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, seeks scholars for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position. We are particularly interested in scholars with a demonstrated ability to obtain extramural research funding as a Principal Investigator and interest in community-engaged intervention research, multi-level interventions, implementation science, program evaluation, social determinants of health, community and social change processes, policy change, and systems science in the context of chronic disease prevention (e.g., tobacco control, physical activity/built environment, nutrition/food environments, and cancer screening). Individuals with strong methodological backgrounds, commitment to public health equity, commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments, and demonstrated ability to mentor and teach graduate students in public health will be preferred.

The BSHES departmental mission is to better the health of all people by advancing knowledge and training tomorrow’s leaders on how to change behavior and social conditions that influence health. The BSHES department matriculates approximately 100 MPH students and approximately 4 PhD students per year. Plans are underway for launching a School-wide DrPH program in Fall 2025, which will include a concentration in Evaluation and Implementation Science. The BSHES department comprises 32 primary and nearly 30 adjunct faculty, many of whom are affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Carter Center, and the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Penn State Children’s Hospital is recruiting outstanding a physician scientist for the newly endowed Cellular and Immunotherapy Research Program in Pediatric Oncology within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in Bone Marrow Transplant. This Program is supported by a substantial endowment from the Four Diamonds Fund of the PSU College of Medicine, part of a >$100 M endowment supporting the Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center. This Program is part of an interdepartmental genetics initiative by the institution. The mission of the Pediatric Oncology Cellular and Immunotherapy Research Program is to study immune regulation and develop new cellular and immune mediated therapies to better understand and design novel therapies for pediatric cancers. A wide range of model systems and experimental approaches are of interest and strong collaborations between basic and clinical research and clinical research trials are encouraged. This is a tenure track position and rank is at the Associate to Full Professor level commensurate with the applicant’s experience and accomplishments. Successful applicants will have an M.D./Ph.D., or M.D. degree with an established track record in cancer research and demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology has 15 full-time Pediatric Hematologists/Oncologists and 12 Ph.D. faculty. Over 100 new oncology patients are seen annually, and there are programs in pediatric stem cell transplantation, experimental therapeutics, neuro-oncology, AYA oncology, and survivorship. The division has an accredited Pediatric Heme/Onc fellowship program and is an active member of COG, POETIC, and the lead organization for the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium. The Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Program consists of NIH-funded basic and translational research in childhood malignancies including leukemia, solid tumors, and brain tumors. Research is supported by the Penn State Cancer Institute, the Penn State Institute for Personalized Medicine, an NIH-funded CTSI, and Pediatric Clinical Trials Office. The Houston Methodist Dr. Mary and Ron Neal Cancer Center (HMNCC) is seeking applicants for a senior leadership and faculty position in its Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) research program. The HMNCC has a distinguished research and clinical enterprise impacting the lives of patients within its catchment area. Under the leadership of Jenny C. Chang, MD, the Cancer Center is on the trajectory of scientific growth while actively pursuing National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation. The Cancer Center is nationally recognized for its distinct research capabilities focused on breast cancer, immunotherapies, and using nanotechnologies to improve cancer therapeutics.
The Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) research program seeks to identify, understand, and mitigate factors that contribute to cancer risk and to develop and evaluate new strategies for early cancer detection, including novel biomarkers. The Program Leader (PL) for the Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) Research Program is expected to provide scientific leadership in the development of cancer prevention and control efforts and conduct novel, epidemiologic and translational research that aligns with the CPC program vision and the HMNCC strategic plan.
The CPC program is responsible for conducting research that alleviates the cancer burden across the HMNCC 8-county catchment area, with an emphasis on reducing cancer disparities, particularly for five priority cancers of the HMNCC: breast, prostate, lung, liver, and hematological malignancies.
The PL will lead the development of an innovative research portfolio that addresses the full spectrum of prevention and control research informed by the following 3 CPC programmatic aims:

1. Innovations in Detection. Develop innovative strategies for early cancer detection through identification of novel biomarkers and implementation of cancer control measures.
2. Precision Prevention. Develop chemoprevention interventions and novel vaccines for cancer prevention targeting high-risk individuals who would benefit from precision prevention interventions.
3. Tailored Treatment and Survivorship Care. Develop and evaluate cancer care delivery and survivorship strategies from diagnosis to end of life to optimize cancer care and outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a part of the HMNCC Program Leaders (PL) team, the PL will support the Associate Director of Cancer Control and Population Sciences to provide support for all scientific, policy, and programmatic issues relating to the CPC program. Specifically, the PL should contribute and possess:
• Advanced expertise in cancer research design & methodology.
• An ability to identify research gaps and anticipate new research directions and opportunities.
• Dedicated efforts to addressing cancer disparities across the cancer continuum.
• Translational cancer research expertise in at least one of the following areas: biostatistics/bioinformatics, environmental epidemiology, behavioral epidemiology, genetics/epigenetics, immunology, biomarker and/or drug development, and health services research.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with a transdisciplinary team, with exceptional mentorship skills to advance careers of early career faculty, trainees, and staff.
• Ability to foster awareness and support of cancer center initiatives to support inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and cancer health equity efforts throughout the institution.
• Ability to help establish CPC program priorities, including increasing CPC membership through strategic faculty recruitment, and increasing the effectiveness, impact and reach of the CPC program efforts.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful applicants must have:
• Professional degree (PhD, MD, DrPH, or ScD) in a discipline related to cancer epidemiology, cancer population sciences, environmental epidemiology, health services research, and/or behavioral sciences.
• Established track record of peer-reviewed extramural research funding, publications in high impact professional journals, and national/international reputation as evidenced by service on national, regional, and local organizations and societies.
• Outstanding record of collaborative cancer research-related activities.
• Record of participation in educational programs and mentorship.

Job Information/Description:

The University of Vermont Cancer Center is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a Postdoctoral Associate position focused on breast cancer epidemiology and data sciences. This position is under the supervision of Dr. Brian Sprague, PhD, who is Professor in the UVM Larner College of Medicine and co-Leader of the Cancer Population Sciences program within the Cancer Center. Dr. Sprague directs the Vermont Breast Cancer Surveillance System (VBCSS), a registry-based study that collects data on women undergoing breast imaging at radiology facilities in Vermont. The VBCSS is one of six active registries that pools data within the national Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium (BCSC) to conduct breast cancer research and inform national guidelines for breast cancer screening. VBCSS data have been used in over 270 publications.

This postdoctoral associate position offers opportunities in complex data management, data analyses, and manuscript publication in support of multiple NCI grant-funded projects evaluating breast cancer screening strategies and breast cancer risk prediction models. Active projects include an R01-funded study of supplemental screening strategies for women with dense breasts, an R01-funded study of novel risk prediction models for women with benign breast disease, and P01-funded studies of advanced cancer risk prediction models and the use of image analysis artificial intelligence algorithms to improve breast cancer screening and risk prediction.

Core job responsibilities will include analytic design, conduct of data analyses, and manuscript preparation. The postdoctoral associate will develop their independent research skills under the mentorship of Dr. Sprague, including opportunities for grant writing and conference travel if desired. Candidates can expect a collaborative work environment, with local, national, and international collaborators in disciplines including Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Biostatistics, Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Primary Care, Decision Analysis, Implementation Science, and Complex Systems.

This is a 1-2 year position with a flexible start date and potential to extend for an additional year. Ability to work in-person at the University of Vermont in Burlington is desired but remote options may be considered. Requirements include a PhD in a field applicable to cancer epidemiology or data sciences. This opportunity is available to US Citizens or eligible to work in the United States. Recent PhD graduates and candidates with prior postdoctoral experience will both be considered. Successful candidates will have an interest in working with large datasets, including data from the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium, experience with complex statistical analyses, and strong writing skills. Position Description
The new Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology will lead UMass Chan/UMMH in its efforts to shape the growth of Hematology Oncology services across the UMass Chan and UMMH System. The Chief will be integrally involved in developing and executing a strategic plan and vision for integrated cancer care while working closely with community Hematology/Oncology leaders to collaboratively advance the delivery of cancer care to the hospitals’ patient populations and the goal of achieving NCI Cancer Center status.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced physician-leader and/or physician-scientist to live and work in a very desirable, highly advanced healthcare market, and expand upon a Hematology/Oncology program with the clinical operational support and expertise of one of the nation’s leading Hematology/Oncology Medicine hospitals and health systems.

Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah’s Departments of Population Health Sciences (PHS) and Family & Preventive Medicine (DFPM) are seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to grow our emphasis in environmental epidemiology across the cancer control continuum. The ideal candidate will: 1) conduct research that advances the field of environmental epidemiology; 2) provide cancer-focused campus-wide leadership to develop collaborative, interdisciplinary research activities in the area of environmental health; and 3) catalyze partnerships between HCI and research Centers at the University of Utah focused on environmental sustainability and climate change. The ideal candidate will have a track record of environmental and cancer-relevant research, and may have particular expertise in a wide range of disciplines such as geography, statistics, epidemiology, public health, and/or health equity. The academic home will depend upon the candidate’s background, but would be either DFPM (Division of Public Health or Occupational and Environmental Health) or PHS (Division of Cancer Population Sciences). Desired Qualifications and Experience
• Senior researcher
o Able to advance the science of environmental influences on health, particularly (but not exclusively) on cancer.
o Evidence of a successful research program including a history of funded R01 grants or equivalent.
• Expertise in both prospective and retrospective environmental epidemiologic studies
o Must have experience working with large health and demographic datasets and have a clear understanding of data systems and data linkage.
o Strongly prefer candidates with experience and expertise in spatial analysis methods.
o Prefer candidates with experience using big data techniques, exposome measurement, life course approaches, and/or the application of omics-based methods.
• Dedicated educator and mentor for pre- and post-doctoral trainees as well as junior faculty
