The Department of Biomedical Data Science and the Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth invite applications for a tenure-track or tenured appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor as part of a targeted expansion of Dartmouth’s biostatistics faculty. DCC is a National Cancer Center Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with a commitment to research excellence. The goal of this recruitment is to expand Dartmouth’s capability to perform research on innovative quantitative methods motivated by important problems in medicine and health sciences, with a specific focus on cancer prevention and treatment.

The successful candidate will be pursuing a vigorous and innovative research program on statistical methods, with a clear track record of research in cancer. The successful applicant will be expected to develop cutting-edge statistical and computational methods of direct relevance to an area of cancer research ranging from innovative/adaptive clinical trial design for translational or clinical research to high-dimensional statistics for genomics research, to collaborate with researchers in the DCC, and be able to construct generalizable solutions that can be applied to future problems. A generous start-up package as well as access to state-of-the-art research facilities will be provided.

Expectations for teaching and mentoring are a critical part of this role, and the successful candidate will be provided with such opportunities through membership in relevant PhD and masters programs (e.g., those connected to the Program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences or The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice). Training grants in relevant areas (e.g., Postdoctoral Training Program for Quantitative Population Sciences in Cancer; the Dartmouth Training Program for Quantitative Cancer Research) are available to support graduate trainees.

The tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment will be provided in the Department of Biomedical Data Science at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, along with membership in one of the four research programs at DCC. Secondary appointments in other Geisel departments may be available. Candidates who currently hold or have experience commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or higher are preferred.

Qualifications
Applicants for this position must have earned a PhD or equivalent degree in statistics, biostatistics or a related discipline, and should have a successful track record of peer-reviewed publications, in addition to demonstrating a robust history of an ability to secure extramural funding.

Position Description:
The Department of Nutrition in the Gillings School of Global Public Health and School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) invites applications for two (2) open-rank tenure-track or tenured positions in nutrition (one in basic sciences, one in behavioral and/or intervention sciences), with an academic rank commensurate with experience. Now in its 21st year, the NCI-funded T32 Clinical and Translational Cancer Control Research Training Program at the University of Rochester and Wilmot Cancer Institute is seeking outstanding candidates for our upcoming group of post-doctoral fellows starting in summer, 2025.

The program features exceptionally diverse research opportunities and professional guidance by several NCI-funded mentors. Core program mentors include: Drs. Our 4 core training areas are: 1) Phase I-III randomized clinical trials conducted locally and nationwide within the URCC NCORP Research Base, 2) Translational science (e.g., protein biomarker, genetics, epigenetics, immunology, physiology, etc.), 3) Health equity and 4) Biostatistics. Our 4 specialty elective intervention training areas are: 1) exercise oncology, 2) geriatric oncology, 3) nutrition interventions, and 4) psychological interventions. Our program eagerly seeks highly motivated, early-career individuals who recently completed doctorates (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) who are committed to developing a successful research career in cancer control as independent investigators. Candidates with prior post-doctoral training are also eligible.

Two years of funding with stipends of $70,000 per year are offered along with tuition, the opportunity to receive a Master’s degree, health insurance, childcare costs, research support, travel to scientific meetings, and a Research Assistant Professor position in order to develop a pilot protocol as Principal Investigator. Funding comes from the T32 grant per NIH guidelines and is supplemented by the institution. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a preeminent comprehensive cancer center in New York, New York, is recruiting for postdoctoral trainees to join its Psycho-Oncology Research Training Program. We are seeking outstanding postdoctoral research fellowship candidates for mentored research training in the psychological and behavioral aspects of cancer. Supported by a NIH T32 Institutional Research Training grant from the National Cancer Institute, fellows gain expertise in all aspects of research, including health communication, grant writing and management, career development, supervision of research assistants, data management, liaison with multidisciplinary co-investigators, data analyses, and dissemination of findings via oral presentations and manuscript preparation. The postdoctoral fellowship provides a one-year renewable (maximum three), research practicum. In addition, support for housing, childcare, travel, and training-related expenses (i.e., health care benefits) are provided.

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences was established in 1977 and currently has 52 full-time faculty members. Faculty members available to serve as postdoctoral fellow mentors have expertise in topics including genomic medicine and health decision making, bereavement and palliative care, cancer prevention, immigrant health and cancer disparities, tobacco control and treatment, caregiving, patient-provider communication, neurocognitive effects of cancer therapy, and addressing needs of aging adults. Fellows are matched with one to three mentors with established research programs based on expertise and interests. Our research portfolio includes programs across the cancer continuum with opportunities to conduct clinical, behavioral, translational, community based and/or health equity research. Multi-disciplinary collaborations within the institution and community-based organizations are well established and allow strong ties to community populations. Stipends and benefits are highly competitive (based on training and years of experience) and housing is available for trainees.

Minimum Education/Experience Required: Doctorate in psychology, public health, or a related behavioral/social sciences field is required. Prior experience conducting clinical or community-based research related to health, and strong quantitative skills preferred. Job Information/Description:

The West Virginia University Cancer Institute is seeking applications for a Research Professor (open rank) non-tenure track in Cancer Prevention and Control Intervention Research. We seek a colleague who will build a program of independent research in cancer prevention and control and/or implementation science in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment located in a major academic cancer center. This opportunity offers the potential for creation of highly impactful research and programs in the areas of cancer risk factors, prevention, early detection, survivorship/quality of life, or rural health. The successful candidate would ideally have demonstrated success in population-based cancer research on grant-funded projects. Candidates with experience working in a collaborative, biomedical research setting and record of extramural grant support are highly preferred.

The faculty member’s academic appointment will reside in the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control, WVU School of Medicine, WVU Cancer Institute. This position will report to Stephenie Kennedy-Rea, EdD, Chair of the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control.

Qualifications

Applicant must have:

-A relevant doctoral degree or equivalent
-A proven track record of sustained peer-reviewed funded research in cancer etiology, risk reduction, screening, early detection, and/or survival
-Advanced expertise in research design and methodology
-Candidates must have a scholarly record of collaboration in multidisciplinary investigator teams informed by community needs and with key focal sites within communities such as healthcare practices, community centers, organizations, or neighborhoods
-Record of peer-reviewed publications in cancer and behavioral sciences
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Evidence of mentoring experience

Responsibilities include:

-Conducting research and/or leading research teams (95% of time)
-Collaborating and mentoring residents, students, staff on cancer prevention and control projects including manuscript development, data analysis, IRB submissions, and study design
-Writing and collaborating on grants to support 95% of the position
-Coordinating research projects
-Preparing manuscripts
-Planning and assisting outcome studies
-Coordinating collaborations between the WV Clinical and Translations Science Institute (CTSI), Cancer Institute, and other identified internal and external partners

The Person: The National Cancer Institute (NCI) seeks an innovative leader to serve as the Associate Director of the Surveillance Research Program (SRP) for the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), National Cancer Institute (NCI). The SRP Associate Director reports directly to the Director, DCCPS. The mission of DCCPS is to provide national and international leadership in supporting research in surveillance, epidemiology, health services, behavioral science, and cancer survivorship, with the goal of reducing the burden of cancer in America. The Division plays a central role within the federal government as a source of expertise and evidence on issues such as cancer trends, the quality of cancer care, the economic burden of cancer, geographic information systems, statistical methods, genetic and environmental epidemiology, communication science, tobacco control, and implementation science. SRP is one of four extramural programs within DCCPS. SRP provides national leadership in the science of cancer surveillance as well as analytical tools and methodological expertise in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating reliable population-based cancer statistics. It has 49 employees with a budget of $100M, $27M of which supports a surveillance grants program. This surveillance infrastructure benefits the public, policymakers, and scientists in understanding changes in cancer incidence and outcomes in all segments of the US population over time.

The SRP Associate Director leads the Office of the Associate Director by allocating resources, staff, and assignments, and establishes the scientific and strategic priorities for SRP and advances the activities of four unique scientific branches:
• The Data Analytic Branch advances the science on analytic, modeling, reporting, and interpretation methods for cancer epidemiological surveillance data to measure progress in reducing the US cancer burden.
• The Data Quality, Analysis, and Interpretation Branch provides essential information for tracking the nation’s progress against cancer and leads the analysis and interpretation of patterns and trends in population-based cancer surveillance data.
• The Statistical Research and Applications Branch provides optimal statistical methods for the collection, analysis, and presentation of essential measures related to the cancer control, surveillance, and epidemiology programs of NCI and the broader cancer control and research community.
• The Surveillance Informatics Branch advances precision cancer surveillance through the application of informatics tools, methods, and architectures.

Position Requirements: Applicants must possess a doctoral-level degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D.) in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position and equivalent experience. The candidate must be an experienced scientist with expertise in managing complex and diverse cancer control and population sciences research programs involving surveillance research in cancer prevention and control. The candidate must have experience collaborating with a broad range of senior medical, scientific, and management staff within NCI and across NIH, other government agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector. Of special importance are strategic and scientific vision, leadership skills, and experience in the development and management of cancer surveillance research programs and technologies, strong fiscal responsibility, an understanding of new trends in cancer research, awareness of the complex challenges facing cancer surveillance research, and the ability to collaborate within and between complex organizations. Appointees may be US citizen, Legal Permanent Resident or non-US citizen who are eligible for a valid work authorization. Salary/Benefits: This position will be filled under a Title 42 excepted service appointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience. A recruitment or relocation bonus may be available, and relocation expenses may be paid. A full civil service package of benefits may be available.

The Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (GLCCC) is seeking outstanding candidates for a NCI -funded T32 postdoctoral training program in Cancer Population Science (CPaS). We are currently recruiting for Fall 2024 as well as 2025.
The program focuses on preparing trainees for independent cancer research careers with a focus on clinical and community translational research. Training faculty have a wide breadth of domain-specific expertise with NIH-funded research programs in behavioral science, health disparities, cancer and aging, molecular epidemiology/biomarkers, health services/health policy, and survivorship in cancer populations. This includes research in tobacco control, cancer screening, cancer genetics, cancer energetics, global health, molecular tumor phenotypes, environment and cancer, supportive care interventions, and psychooncology. The program offers 2-3 years of funding, competitive salary and benefits, as well as funds for travel and research support.
GLCCC is the only National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the nation’s capital. Fellows participate in all phases of research, from study design through manuscript preparation and participation in a formal didactic program. There also are opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary grant writing, the development of new projects, and to mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Additional opportunities for clinical training and supervision in psychooncology are available.
