Approaches to Working with State Cancer Coalitions: Leveraging NCI funding And State Services for your Cancer Prevention & Control Program

Abstract Body:
Background: The CDC funds the National Cancer Prevention and Control Program, the National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and the National Program of Cancer Registries. Each of these federal programs are tasked with supporting and working closely with State Cancer Coalitions. In particular, the CDC DCPC supports breast and cervical cancer screening services, cancer control plan implementation by coalitions, and surveillance programs to monitor and report cancer burden. Methods and Approach: In this session, we will briefly discuss three CDC cancer focused federal programs. Broadly, all NCI Comprehensive Cancer Centers are required to demonstrate programs or plans for: (1) eliminating preventable cancers, (2) ensuring all people have access to the right screening at the right time for the best outcome, and (3) be able to support cancer survivors in a manner that allows them to live longer, healthier lives.
