Job Information/Description:

Penn State Children’s Hospital is recruiting outstanding a physician scientist for the newly endowed Cellular and Immunotherapy Research Program in Pediatric Oncology within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in Bone Marrow Transplant. This Program is supported by a substantial endowment from the Four Diamonds Fund of the PSU College of Medicine, part of a >$100 M endowment supporting the Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center. This Program is part of an interdepartmental genetics initiative by the institution. The mission of the Pediatric Oncology Cellular and Immunotherapy Research Program is to study immune regulation and develop new cellular and immune mediated therapies to better understand and design novel therapies for pediatric cancers. A wide range of model systems and experimental approaches are of interest and strong collaborations between basic and clinical research and clinical research trials are encouraged. This is a tenure track position and rank is at the Associate to Full Professor level commensurate with the applicant’s experience and accomplishments. Successful applicants will have an M.D./Ph.D., or M.D. degree with an established track record in cancer research and demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology has 15 full-time Pediatric Hematologists/Oncologists and 12 Ph.D. faculty. Over 100 new oncology patients are seen annually, and there are programs in pediatric stem cell transplantation, experimental therapeutics, neuro-oncology, AYA oncology, and survivorship. The division has an accredited Pediatric Heme/Onc fellowship program and is an active member of COG, POETIC, and the lead organization for the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium. The Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Program consists of NIH-funded basic and translational research in childhood malignancies including leukemia, solid tumors, and brain tumors. Research is supported by the Penn State Cancer Institute, the Penn State Institute for Personalized Medicine, an NIH-funded CTSI, and Pediatric Clinical Trials Office. Basic core, translational, and clinical facilities provide an excellent environment for research.
