Application Deadline: November 13, 2025
Virtual Workshop Sessions: February/March 2027

The New Investigator Workshop is an opportunity for pre- and postdoctoral trainees to meet with nationally recognized leaders in the field of preventive oncology and to present their research for discussion and constructive criticism. The research may be completed work, work in progress, or ideas in the planning stages.

New Investigators accepted into the Workshop will be subdivided into smaller groups (probably with three New Investigators and three Workshop Faculty per group). Each group will hold three 60-minute virtual workshop sessions in February and March 2027, on days/times mutually agreed upon by participants and faculty. Up to 12 total investigators will be selected, and participants are encouraged to attend the ASPO Annual Meeting, April 11-13, 2027, in Atlanta, where an in-person networking breakfast will take place for Workshop faculty and participants. An Annual Meeting registration discount will be available for New Investigators who plan to attend in person.

Applications are invited from ASPO members who are pre- or post-doctoral trainees at any recognized institution. Applicants must not have participated in this workshop in the past.

Application Materials Include:

  • Contact information for applicant and sponsor/primary investigator. (Applicant must be an ASPO member; sponsor/PI is not required to be a member.)
  • Title of Project
  • Abstract (350 words max)
  • Applicant CV

All applications must be submitted via the online form.

Applicants will be notified by December 31. If you have questions about the application process, please contact Brenda Birmann and Shaneda Warren Andersen.
