The goal of the UNC Lineberger Cancer Control Education Program (CCEP) is to support research and
training for highly-qualified individuals pursuing independent research careers in interdisciplinary and
collaborative cancer prevention and control. The program emphasizes biobehavioral, translational public health
research, pairing new knowledge on behavioral, community, organizational, policy-oriented, and molecular cancer risk
factors with the design and implementation of interventions designed to decrease cancer risk or detect it early. Interventions
by past trainees have targeted changes in tobacco use, diet, physical activity, tanning, vaccinations, and/or other
cancer screening and adherence behaviors. The program has trained and fostered career development for over 100
trainees over the past two decades.
