Job Information/Description:
The Department of Physiology and the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) seek a nationally recognized leader in cancer chemo-/immuno-prevention translational research for a tenured/tenure-eligible faculty appointment. The candidate may also co-lead the NCI-funded UArizona Cancer Prevention Clinical Trials Network (UA CP-CTNet). Ideal candidates have expertise in clinical and translational research on cancer chemo/immuno prevention, assessment and development of clinical, molecular, multi-omics, or imaging biomarkers to evaluate cancer risk, efficacy and advanced precision prevention and designing and conducting early-phase clinical trials involving cancer preventive agents across various organ systems.
The Department of Physiology (physiology.arizona.edu) provides an outstanding academic home for research and undergraduate, graduate, and medical education. The Department is home to strong programs of clinical trials, translational multi-omics, and epigenomic research. The Department possesses substantial expertise and an excellent environment for experimental investigation and big data analysis in translational multi-omics research and conducts research in humans, non-human primates, and model organisms. Department faculty participate in campus-wide graduate programs and lead an undergraduate program that enrolls >5,000 students/year in our courses with the support of educator faculty.
The UA CP-CTNet is funded by the NCI Division of Cancer Prevention to evaluate clinical activity and biologic effects of putative preventive agents. Leaders of the UA CP-CTNet work closely with clinician scientists and translational researchers from UACC and 22+ affiliate organizations (U.S. and Canada) to design and conduct biomarker-driven early phase cancer prevention clinical trials. Leaders have oversight of clinical trial conduct and scientific directions of this network.
The UACC is a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at the forefront for high impact precision cancer medicine with strengths in basic carcinogenesis mechanisms, tumor microenvironment, disparities, and cancer prevention. UACC is also has a broad array of Shared Resources to support cancer research (cancercenter.arizona.edu).
The UACC is committed to increasing the cancer research workforce diversity by building an inclusive and equitable community and committed to addressing cancer disparities and health equity. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
