Job Information/Description:

A full-time Postdoctoral Associate position is available within the Yale School of Nursing to assist with the project implementation and closely work with Dr. Hermine Poghosyan. This is a one-year position with a potential to extend for another year and with a start date; July 1st, 2024.

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Associate with a strong research background to participate as a professional team member and contribute to ongoing research projects in cancer health disparities, tobacco control and cessation. We are seeking scholars with research interests in cancer health disparities, cancer survivorship, lung cancer screening, and tobacco prevention and cessation among cancer survivors. In this position, the scholar will be encouraged to conduct mentored and independent research with an emphasis on study inception, manuscript writing, and applying for grants and will also have opportunities to further develop their skills as an independent researcher under the mentorship of Dr. Poghosyan.

Responsibilities include:

Assisting the research team in handling data produced from quantitative and qualitative approaches
Creating analytic databases
Developing analytical models under the guidance of the Investigators and the Biostatistician
Providing support with literature reviews, data analysis, and dissemination of study findings through publications and presentations
Leading and collaborating on peer-reviewed manuscript publications
Maintaining IRB compliance and updating IRB protocols as necessary, and
Performing other duties as assigned.
Collaborating proficiently and communicating effectively with colleagues and management teams
Being able to design and perform hands on experiments and maintain detailed documentation
Qualifications:

Must have a PhD in a field applicable to cancer research and associated experience in a health-related area such as public health, nursing, psychology, health policy, social or behavioral sciences, or another relevant field.
All requirements of the doctoral degree must be completed before the position start date.
Recent PhD graduates and candidates with prior postdoctoral experience are both appropriate.
Primary research interests should be in the areas of cancer health disparities; cancer survivorship; lung cancer screening behavior; tobacco prevention and cessation among cancer survivors.
Have a high level of pre-doctoral publication activity
Have excellent analytic and writing skills and demonstrated potential of scholarly research including content-relevant peer-reviewed publications.
Knowledge of using statistical software, Stata.
Be able to interpret statistical output and work independently as well as collaboratively
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

A PhD in Nursing is preferred.
Strong data analytical skills.
Experience using and analyzing population-based data.
Excellent past academic performance evidenced with publications.
