We invite outstanding individuals (PhD, DrPH, MD, or DO) with a focus on Cancer Public Health, Cancer Health Disparities, or Cancer Control and Population Health research to apply for a faculty position in the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) at the MetroHealth System (MHS) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU).

PHRIs vision is to lead the way to a healthy, thriving, equitable community and nation through actionable research, education, and collaboration. PHRI consists of three Centers: The Center for Clinical Informatics, Research, and Education (CCIRE); the Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD); and The Center for Health Care Research and Policy (CHRP), all supported by a Division of Biostatistics and Data Sciences. PHRI engages in community participatory research, statewide and regional policy relevant implementation science, clinical informatics research, and social context of care. PHRI faculty maintain an environment that values diversity and nurtures collaboration, creativity, and innovation. We work closely with the Population Health Innovations Institute within The MetroHealth System where we deploy and evaluate innovative approaches to improving population health.

The successful candidate will work with the MetroHealth Cancer Center (MHCC) and the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at CWRU (case.edu/cancer/). The MHCC cares for over 1400 cancer cases annually, with approximately half of all patients representing underserved populations. MHCC is committed to expanding the cancer health services research program to address the cancer burden in the communities we serve. The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of only 53 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute and is affiliated with University Hospitals of Cleveland and the Cleveland Clinic. Cancer research is supported by a multi-institution Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (case.edu/medicine/ctsc/). Cleveland is a dynamic and multicultural city with considerable opportunities to expand research to address cancer and population health.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD, DrPH, MD, DO degree or equivalent plus a strong record of scholarly activity and extramural funding. A rank of assistant professor or higher is preferred. Academic rank for the position will be determined based on experience.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to establish a program of high quality extramurally-funded research in cancer public health, cancer prevention and/or cancer management. Additional opportunities exist for the candidate to advance and extend existing relationships with multiple departments within MHS, CWRU, and with other regional health systems. For candidates with a clinical degree, responsibilities will be based on candidate interests and MHS clinical needs. Teaching opportunities will be considered based on the candidates interests.
