Job Information/Description:

The University of Arizona Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (UArizona) and the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) seek a dynamic leader for a fiscal (12-month) position as a tenure-eligible or tenured Associate or Full Professor of Epidemiology and Co-Director of the Skin Cancer Institute.

We are seeking candidates with a demonstrated ability to direct the Skin Cancer Institute and contribute to original, creative, and multidisciplinary research in cancer epidemiology. A successful candidate’s research should complement current areas of strengths in the Epidemiology Program and UACC. The successful candidate is expected to develop and/or teach the equivalent of 2-3 courses per year, including graduate-level courses and/ or undergraduate courses, mentor graduate students, and contribute to the research and service missions of the college.

The MEZCOPH is currently the only nationally accredited college of public health in the state of Arizona. The College and University have numerous innovative teaching, research, and service programs and is a valued partner in community-based research projects addressing health issues relevant to border communities and indigenous populations. The College is also committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty to create greater inclusivity and to align more with the student body.

The Arizona Cancer Center, established in 1978, is one of 72 NCI-Designated Cancer Centers and one of 56 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation and the only Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in and serving Arizona. The Skin Cancer Institute seeks to translate science into practice and implement strong outreach and educational programs to improve diagnosis and outcomes.
