We are recruiting an individual with doctoral-level training to join our dynamic and productive multidisciplinary research team. This individual will be engaged in our broad and rich portfolio of community-partnered research, as well as community outreach and engagement activities, designed to address health disparities in the greater Los Angeles region and beyond. Examples of research projects include studies on uptake of HPV vaccination, obesity control, cancer screening, tobacco control, and other preventive health measures. The focus is on pragmatic implementation trials, in real world settings, to reduce the disproportionate burden of disease in underserved groups. The work in the center involves survey research; quantitative and qualitative methods; comparative effectiveness trials; program evaluation; implementation science; and utilization of EHR and other administrative databases for research purposes.

The incumbent will have the opportunity to further his/her research and leadership capabilities by authoring scientific manuscripts and presentations, participating in the development of grant proposals, mentoring students and interns, participating in community engagement activities and in the overall planning of new initiatives in the Center. For qualified candidates, there is potential for a concurrent academic appointment.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and implement research activities
  • Coordinate and facilitate the daily operations of projects on campus and at community sites
  • Manage the collection, organization, and presentation of research data
  • Work with community partners to develop and implement interventions
  • Train and oversee project staff, students and interns on campus and at community partner sites
  • Develop study protocols and materials
  • Prepare scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations for academic and community audiences
  • Participate in development of proposals for research funding
  • Support community engagement activities

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in behavioral/social science or related field (e.g., public health, psychology, sociology) or medical degree with public health/social science training
  • Strong methodological skills including research design and data analyses and interpretation
  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Prior experience or involvement in managing research projects
  • Knowledge of population science theory and practice; and implementation research with community partners, including clinical safety-net providers
  • Ability to effectively work with community organizations, including clinical settings
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, including scientific writing
  • Knowledge of and experience with policies and procedures for Human Subjects research
  • Access to transportation for travel to community sites as needed
  • Flexibility to work some hours on evenings and weekends as needed
  • Bilingual Spanish skills a plus

Work Schedule & Salary: Full time position available starting immediately. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
