POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW (MULTIETHNIC COHORT) – ID# 221635.

University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center (UHCC), Population Sciences in the Pacific (PSP) Program, located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: $3,822.00/Mon.

DUTIES: Works directly with the Principal Investigator (PI) in the prospective study of risk factors for lung cancers and the molecular characterization of lung tumors in the Multiethnic Cohort (MEC). Works in genetic association studies, which includes epigenome-wide association studies (EWAS), genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and/or genetic sequence from the MEC. Conducts epidemiologic, genetic, and/or epigenetic analyses of study data. Transcribes manuscripts and collaborates with colleagues. Attends training in cancer disparities research and grant writing. Conducts research literature reviews on projects pertaining to the lab work. Assists with writing reports and grant applications. Presents research findings.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: PhD, DrPH, or MD/MPH from an accredited college or university in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline. EXPERIENCE: Up to one (0-1) year of work experience in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Knowledge of epidemiologic study designs, and statistical analysis techniques for population studies. Strong understanding of epidemiologic methods in the study of chronic disease (case-control and cohort analyses) and common analytic tools for epidemiologic studies (SAS, Stata, etc.). Strong knowledge of genetic association studies (PLINK, EIGENSTRAT, imputation, etc.). Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Proficient in R and Unix. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.
