Job Information/Description:

The Yale School of Public Health and the Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center (YCC) have received a Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) T32 training award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH, T32 CA250803, 08/01/2020 – 07/31/2025), under which up to three (3) postdoctoral trainees are being recruited. Below are key aspects of the training program:

  • The Yale CPC Training Program aims to train postdoctoral fellows in five thematic areas critical to CPC: cancer etiology, cancer outcomes, lifestyle behavioral interventions, implementation science and community-engaged research.
  • The program is enabled by 22 Primary Faculty and 14 Resource Faculty at the Yale School of Public Health and School of Medicine, who have an outstanding track record in CPC research and mentoring of junior investigators.
  • Fellows will also directly participate and interact with the 7 YCC Research Programs and 14 YCC Disease-Aligned Research Teams.
  • Our training program will include a comprehensive mentoring program; a structured CPC Fellows research in progress meetings; participation in CPC research assistantship; and annual ½ day workshops in our 5 thematic areas.
  • Our program will select highly qualified and diverse candidates who wish to pursue a career in CPC. It is our goal that CPC Fellows will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to function independently, and develop and carry out innovative, impactful studies filling key gaps in CPC research, potentially changing the standard of care and impacting policy.
  • Selected candidates will receive stipend support at the prescribed NIH postdoctoral level based on NIH Notice NOT-OD-  20-070, and may request training related expenses up to $11,000 each year.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health sciences, social and behavioral sciences, health policy, medicine, or other areas in life or data sciences, as well as a strong interest in CPC. Previous research experience in CPC is desirable but not required.
  • Applicants will need to meet NIH eligibility requirements for appointment to NRSA training grants. Inparticular, applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents at the time of
  • Applicants may not have received more than two years of previous support through a NIH postdoctoral training Their support by the CPC T32 training program will not exceed two years.
  • Applicants must submit
