The UNC Lineberger Cancer Control Education Program (CCEP) prepares interested fellows for careers in cancer prevention and control research. Under the guidance of faculty preceptors, fellows will become competent in: research methods; understanding the fundamental issues of cancer prevention and control; developing expertise by mastering a content area; and gaining practical research experience. In addition, the program encourages fellows to: develop and submit applications for independent funding; present research findings at regional or national research meetings; and publish in peer reviewed journals. The program has trained and fostered career development for over 100 trainees over the past two decades. Successful applicants will have a strong record of achievement, publications in cancer prevention and control, and a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in behavioral science, epidemiology, nutrition, public health, or a related field.
