Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cancer Prevention and Control
at Fox Chase Cancer Center
We are seeking to recruit a talented and motivated individual who is interested in investigating biobehavioral pathways that contribute to cancer risk and outcomes. The postdoctoral fellow will actively participate in ongoing NIH-funded studies under the direction of Dr. Carolyn Fang at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Projects include collaborations with leading basic scientists and clinicians to address the following topics: (1) investigating associations of psychosocial and behavioral factors with immunologic activity in cancer patients and at-risk populations; (2) exploring diverse experiences of Asian immigrant populations and how these relate to biomarkers of chronic disease risk; and (3) examining diet and cancer-related biomarkers. Opportunities exist to contribute to project development, grant writing, data analyses and manuscript writing, and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students and staff. The fellow will receive guidance in the development of independent research interests and grant proposals.
This is a two-year appointment; the second year of funding is contingent upon performance in year one.
- Ph.D. in psychology, public health or other related behavioral/social sciences discipline; or is currently enrolled in a doctoral degree program and will have fulfilled all degree requirements prior to beginning the postdoctoral fellowship
- Knowledge and experience with cancer research
- Strong data analysis skills
- Excellent oral presentation and writing skills
- Strong publication record
- Strong work ethic and commitment to becoming an independent scientist
