Postdoc in HPV vaccination, implementation science, and Health
University of North Carolina
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join two research studies to increase HPV vaccination in primary care settings. Though a CDC-funded RCT, the first study will evaluate systems-level strategies to improve HPV vaccine delivery. The second study will test the feasibility of app-based trainings to improve provider communication about HPV vaccination. Both studies offer the opportunity for multiple first-author papers, collaboration with our CDC partners, and funding to support conference travel.
Led by PIs Noel Brewer and Melissa Gilkey, we are a highly productive team of behavioral scientists based in the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. We have extensive experience mentoring early career investigators, with our postdocs going on to tenure-track faculty positions in R1 universities. Our structured approach to postdoctoral training is a good fit for quantitatively-oriented aspiring academics. Postdocs benefit from a wide array of resources in the School of Public Health and the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing manuscripts (at least 3 first author papers per year) in collaboration with our team.
- Leading formative research and intervention development activities; assisting with survey development; creating training protocols and assisting with data collection.
- Developing new ideas and incorporating them into planned or new research; assisting with grant writing; handling administrative tasks, potentially including managing IRB applications.
- Presenting research at national conferences and meetings; attending research seminars; mentoring graduate students and staff as needed.
PhD in Public Health, Psychology, or related behavioral science field.
