Job Information/Description:

Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in Biobehavioral Cancer Research at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey

This is a two-year, full-time research position with a competitive salary and benefits. Considerable opportunities are available for professional development, including analyzing data (quantitative and qualitative) and writing papers (first authorship is encouraged) from ongoing and completed biobehavioral studies involving genetics/genomics in cancer patients and individuals at risk for cancer, with a particular focus on disparities, health equity and community engagement. Opportunities exist to develop a deeper understanding of and commitment to advancing health equity for low-income, underserved minority, and medically underserved communities, or regions that face issues of inequity.  Under the mentorship of Dr. Anita Kinney, the post-doc would also have the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of pilot projects and several grant-funded studies, work directly on NIH grant applications, present research at national meetings, and attend seminars across the campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Qualified candidates should have a doctorate in public health, psychology (e.g., health, social, clinical, or counseling), or a related field. Prior experience in cancer prevention, behavioral interventions and control or psycho-oncology research is preferred. A record of publications as well as excellent writing, oral communication, and statistical skills are required. For the ideal candidate, this post-doctoral fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity to develop research experience and publications in biobehavioral research, including population- and community-based randomized trials.

Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (www.cinj.org) is the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. As part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the Cancer Institute is dedicated to improving the prevention, detection, treatment, and care of patients with cancer.
