The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to join Fred Hutch’s Cancer Survivorship Program and help grow its research portfolio. The overall mission of the interdisciplinary Survivorship Program is to enhance the equitable care of cancer survivors by 1) rigorous research with national and international impact, 2) direct provision of clinical care, and 3) education and outreach. Survivorship focuses on the health and well-being of a person with cancer from the time of diagnosis until the end of life. This includes the physical, mental, emotional, social, and financial effects of cancer that begin at diagnosis and continue through treatment and beyond.
Candidates with PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, or equivalent are encouraged to apply – this includes but is not limited to those with training in medical or radiation or surgical oncology, psychology, epidemiology, exercise physiology, nutrition science, health services, dissemination and implementation science, and other related disciplines. Candidates should have experience commensurate with rank. The position is on the faculty/physician scientist (i.e., primarily research) track. However, candidates who wish to maintain a clinical practice (i.e., 20-30% time) are encouraged to apply and can be integrated into Fred Hutch’s Survivorship, Oncology, or Supportive Care clinics at Fred Hutch based on the best fit.
Research areas of interest include but are not limited to: lifestyle or other interventions to mitigate late (medical or psychosocial) effects, biobehavioral research, cardio-oncology, health services and care delivery, molecular or genetic epidemiology of late effects, or mechanistic studies of key adverse events. We seek candidates with a research interest in adult cancer survivorship (young adults to geriatrics). Of note, this recruitment is not targeting candidates who focus exclusively on survivors of childhood or adolescent cancers as those areas are well represented in our current faculty. The successful candidate will develop/continue an independent research program within our collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

In addition, Fred Hutch has outstanding facilities and cutting-edge shared resources to support faculty, including those that support exercise and nutritional interventions. Fred Hutch is a modern campus located next to Lake Union in Seattle, Washington, and is close to other non-profit research institutes and the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Reference letters will be solicited for Assistant Professor applicants and may be solicited for senior applicants over the course of the search process. For consideration, applicants need to have a PhD, MD/PhD, MD or other doctorate degree and an academic track record consistent with rank. All components must be submitted for the application to move forward in the review process.
