Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey invites candidates to apply for two tenure-track faculty positions in any of these areas: Cancer survivorship, cancer symptom management, oncology care delivery, patient-reported outcomes, implementation science, m-health, psychological/behavioral interventions for cancer patients and/or survivors, behavioral interventions for sun protection, physical activity, and/or weight management, and system-level interventions to improve oncology care outcomes. The candidate should have a demonstrated academic track record of publications and currently active funding.  Academic rank is open and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. One position is at a mid-career level. A joint appointment in another academic department/School will be supported, including the School of Public Health, Psychiatry, or Family Medicine.  A leadership role for the Rutgers Cancer Survivorship Research Center is possible, depending on the faculty candidate’s rank.

The successful candidate will be joining the Population Science Section and the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at the Cancer Institute.  Our center has a growing number of cancer control scientists with expertise in cancer survivorship, cancer prevention, m-health and social media interventions, and psychological interventions for cancer patients and their families. The Cancer Institute also has a vibrant and active research program in cancer epidemiology and cancer disparities, as well as a Center for Tobacco Research at the Rutgers School of Public Health. There is a strong and growing research program in cancer survivorship in primary care settings at the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. With the integration of the Cancer Institute into the RWJBarnabas Health System, there are many opportunities for research collaboration and study implementation cross the entire state.  Program members also have strong ties to the large South Asian community, minority populations, and the evolving Screen NJ program in New Jersey. The Cancer Institute houses the SEER New Jersey State Cancer Registry, which facilitates research through rapid case ascertainment of new cancer cases.  There are also opportunities to be involved in several ongoing studies and to participate in research consortia.  In addition, the Cancer Institute has numerous shared resources available to faculty, including: 1) Population Science (Data Stat, data collection); 2) Biostatistics; 3) a bio-specimen repository; and 4) precision oncology and access to ORIEN (Oncology Research Information Exchange Network), a shared resource for precision oncology data for epidemiology studies.

The successful applicant will be expected to maintain an innovative, independent, collaborative and extramurally-funded research program.  Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in psychology, public health, epidemiology, or a health-related profession with a strong publication record. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain an innovative, independent, collaborative, and extramurally-funded research program.  Preference will be given to applicants with an established and extramurally-funded research program and an interest in a leadership role.

Rutgers Cancer Institute is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the state and is easily accessible to New York City, Newark Airport, and Philadelphia by public transportation.
