Mayo Clinic is seeking an Inaugural Director for the Center for Community-Engaged and Health Disparities Research (CCEHDR). This Center will be formed from the integration of the existing Office of Community Engaged Research, funded by the Mayo Clinic Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, and the Office of Health Disparities Research, funded by the Mayo Clinic Research Committee. This individual will perform the responsibilities of Director in addition to maintaining their own research program, commensurate with expectations for a Career Scientist at the Mayo Clinic.
The Director will be responsible for leading the efforts of the Center Steering Committee and staff to develop and execute a strategic plan to accomplish the Center’s mission across the Mayo Clinic enterprise that extends across sites in the Upper Midwest, Florida, and Arizona. This mission is to meaningfully engage community members as appropriate in the research process to 1) catalyze scientifically-rigorous research that contributes to the development and deployment of strategies to eliminate health disparities, enhance community engagement, and best meet community healthcare needs, and 2) ensure that Mayo Clinic research subjects are representative of the diverse communities that form the mosaic of our nation so that all may benefit from our research efforts. A highly collaborative approach with institutional Departments and Centers will be necessary to effectively leverage Mayo Clinic’s community engaged and health disparities capabilities across research, clinical, and educational portfolios. The promotion of teamwork, optimizing integration opportunities, developing trust, and fostering collaborations are key values at Mayo Clinic and are essential functions of this position.
The Center serves Mayo Clinic locations in the Midwest, Arizona, and Florida. The Director may be located on any Mayo Clinic campus, but will need to spend significant time on the Rochester, Minnesota campus to fulfill the responsibilities effectively. The Director reports to the Executive Dean of Research.
