We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to join an active Cancer Control and Prevention Division involved in all aspects of research and service related to cancer prevention, community engagement, survivorship, culinary medicine, cancer control and value based oncology.  This team member will be involved daily in project management of ongoing grants, data management and quality, data analysis, presentation and publication development, and grant writing for future projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in population health, public health, epidemiology or directly related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and three years of directly related professional experience. Excellent statistical and analytical skills are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develops a robust population health-focused approach to cancer control and prevention that covers the entire spectrum of Mitchell Cancer Institute (MCI) focused programs to include basic and translational programs, prevention and early detection, clinical treatment, clinical research and survivorship; serves as a resource and integral component of research and treatment initiatives on a go forward basis; builds an effective population health infrastructure at the MCI; defines and analyzes MCI’s Catchment Area, as well as trending changes on a quarterly basis; conducts data analysis on MCI’s patient population, including oncology service line, cancer diagnosis, insurer/payer, referring physician, patient demographics, stratification and segmentation of patients by risk and patient need; utilizes Catchment Area and Patient Population data to help guide decision-making in clinical research, translational research, Cancer Control and Prevention, and new service delivery programs; collaborates with Cancer Control and Prevention in identifying grant opportunities, grant writing and grant management; utilizes catchment area and patient population data to support research opportunities and serves as a resource to basic science research, Cancer Control and Prevention, translational research, and clinical trials research; assists with grant writing and statistical analysis for clinical, translational and basic science research; analyzes data collected from research performed at MCI and within local community; collaborates with the USA Cancer Registry to explore and implement strategies to maintain consensus standards and best practices for cancer surveillance activities and survivorship programs; provides oversight on data collection performed at MCI to ensure data integrity; determines data elements and outcomes needed to effectively evaluate MCI performance; implements necessary data elements and the data collection processes; reviews current data management and leads the development of standardized data analysis procedures; works with MCI managers to develop quality improvement strategies in response to performance results; analyzes and leverages data, metrics, information and reports to establish MCI’s Oncology Strategic Value both within the USA Health System and to outside entities such as ACOs, insurance companies and employer groups; supports business development with population data to guide future development opportunities; achieves and maintains cancer-related accreditations, including, but not limited to, Commission on Cancer Accreditation through Meaningful Use; creates and utilizes unique patient databases to meet MCI’s research needs; develops, implements and tracks data elements to measure desired oncology outcomes for MCI; conducts data analysis for ongoing research, to include the use of data statistical analysis tools; assists MCI researchers in establishing databases for ongoing research; assists MCI researchers in analyzing and reporting collected data for publication; produces reports to define MCI’s patient population, Catchment area and market share; serves as active member of Alabama Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition; compiles and analyzes extensive Excel database of MCI physician referral as part of strategic development of business outreach plan; assists in developing, planning and coordinating MCI community outreach events; participates in community cancer events including ACS partnership events and assists MCI development staff with special events; utilizes exceptional verbal and written communicative skills and strong interpersonal skills; communicates with constituents within USA, business leaders, physicians, community leaders and government officials; creates, maintains and analyzes complex data sets; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
