Faculty Opening – Assistant Rank
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has an immediate opening for a PhD-level Behavioral Data Scientist faculty position at the Assistant Attending rank. The position will primarily involve collaborations in the design and implementation of behavioral research in cancer, in broad areas such as cancer prevention, observational studies, measurement of quality of life and other patient-reported outcomes and cognitive comorbidities in cancer and cancer treatment. Successful applicants will join clinicians and behavioral scientists collaborating on behavioral intervention trials and observational studies. Applicants should demonstrate ability to work as part of collaborative teams, requisite statistical expertise and independence for leading statistical analyses and mentoring/supervising other research support staff. This position provides an ideal opportunity to become a leader in a new generation of statistical scientists dedicated to advancing the psychological and behavioral aspects of cancer prevention and control research.

Doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, quantitative psychology, data sciences, or a related quantitative field is required. Applicants should demonstrate evidence of strong quantitative and communication skills and have interest in developing a self-initiated statistical methodology work relevant to the collaborations. Experience with NIH and other extramural grant applications is highly desirable. Experience with SAS and R is required. Experience with other computation tools is desirable (e.g., Stata, Mplus or Python). We are particularly interested in individuals with broad statistical skills and diverse expertise in rigorous research methods such as Multiphase Optimization Strategy designs, cluster-randomized clinical trial design, clinical trials design in general, Patient-Reported Outcomes instrument development, and hierarchical linear modeling and its Bayesian variety.
