In 2022, the Department recruited a new Chair, Simon Craddock Lee, PhD MPH, a nationally recognized medical anthropologist working at the intersection of implementation science and healthcare delivery research, who joined KU from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Located in the School of Medicine, the Department provides a robust, interdisciplinary environment for conducting research and teaching in an academic medical center setting. The Department is committed to addressing rural and urban health inequities through strong partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, health systems and other stakeholders in diverse communities and across the care delivery continuum in the rapidly growing, multicultural Mid-West context. With faculty on three campuses – Kansas City, Wichita, Salina – we are the academic home for graduate educational programs leading to the MHSA, MPH, MSCR, and PhD.
Competitive candidates will have a demonstrable research focus in a population health domain, such as behavioral and social science interventions, healthcare delivery research, implementation science, outcomes and health services research, including policy analysis, economics and/or finance. In addition to a strong record of partnership with state and regional health authorities, the Department has access to exceptional campus resources to support diverse community engagement and recruitment, quantitative analytics and health informatics, with multiple opportunities for collaboration across clinical areas, the KU School of Health Professions, and the School of Nursing.
