1929 Photogravure Buddhist Temple Kandy Sri Lanka Ceylon Sacred Tooth Relic CCG1 Souvenir de Francis GualainThis is an original 1929 photogravure of a temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The temple is home to the sacred tooth relic. Buddha was cremated, and his left canine was taken by Arahat Khema. It was believed that whoever was in possession of the tooth had the right to the land. The tooth was sought to be destroyed several times, but brought to Kandy, Sri Lanka in a woman's hair ornament. It now resides in the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The photographer of
